If you could choose one lifestyle for the rest of your life would it be:

Rich with a maid, mansion, servants, and whatever objects you want. You don't have to work. Your only complaint is that it is kind of lonely.

Ok, you have to work. It is a crummy job and you hate it but you get enough money. You only get to have ONE friend and ONE family member. Your only complaint is that you want a new job.

Poor with a ton of supporting friends that help you get through life. You are very happy with your life because you get to live with your family and friends but you just barely get enough food. Your only complaint is that you wish you had more clothes.

Why?

Well, no offense please to all my friends that read this, but number 2. I get sick and hungry a whole lot and I would need to be able to pay for medication. People, having strep throat and an ear infection AND being hungry...no thanks! And plus, I would get to be with a friend the ENTIRE time!!

This is a hard choice. If I had to choose I expect I'd choose number 2 as well.

If I could, I would try to earn enough money so I wasn't hungry, but also keep my friends. I know that's not one of the choices, though.

Heya Esther, I heard about your blog from your mom. Very cool... and great question!

I guess I'd choose #2, but I'm starting to think that #3 would actually be a lot better - I'm just not sure I have the courage to be really poor.

Though if I chose #1 would I still be able to use my wealth to help people? That might make it worth it, even if I had to be alone.

I'm also thinking that most people here in America tend to live #2 anyway - pretty isolated, and usually making enough money but not a lot. But I'm also thinking that the vast majority of people in the world (like in all the really poor countries) live #3 all the time... and you know what, even though they're poor and they suffer, they also tend to be very happy. A lot happier than most Americans. That's kind of why I'm wondering whether #3 might not be the better option after all.

Anyhow, sorry for rambling on. It was a good question. :)

Peace,
-Mike

Well, read the title of this blog. If you want to actually find something out, then... you'd better leave. This is a site for fun, thinking, and debates. It isn't in order or anything. You can just read any one of the posts and it will (hopefully) make sense......... Q
